ONE HUNDRED KING RESTORATION PROJECT UNDERWAY
CHATHAM, Ontario – 100 King Street CK Holdings Inc. is thrilled to unveil the plans and renderings for the development project designed to transform the Downtown Chatham Centre into a hub for shopping, dining, living, and entertainment.
Rob Myers, Jessica Myers, Don Tetrault of the Tatro Group, and Ron Nydam of J.P. Holdings and J.P. Contractors are partnering together to bring this long-awaited project to life.
“We’ve spent the last few years listening, planning, and putting the right pieces together, and now, the time has come to make it happen,” says Ron Nydam.
The project is now in phase two and is set to break ground in the fall of 2024. The complete redesign and revisualization of the 220,000 sq ft space will bring a modern take on the downtown experience, while also recreating the lost history of Downtown Chatham. A complete rehabilitation of the parkade is also set to move forward as well as the introduction of a new elevator, escalators, and the complete interior re-imaging.
“We’re doing it. I want the public to know that we are committed to Chatham-Kent and this is really happening,” says Rob Myers.
Rob and Jessica Myers have invested heavily in restoring a city block of historic buildings, which includes the renowned Retro Suites Hotel. Their work is not done yet when it comes to doing more to restore Chatham-Kent with their partners.
“We’re excited to bring new business, new life, and new energy to the heart of our city,” says Don Tetrault.
For several years, J.P. Holdings and J.P. Contractors have worked hard to restore Downtown Chatham with projects like new apartment units and commercial spaces that border the western edge of the Downtown Chatham Centre, the Sons of Kent Brewery, the Dutch Market, much of the Retro Suites Hotel, and several other historic buildings along King Street that many local businesses now call home. Their passion for restoration and development continues with this keystone project.
“Our goal is to build this together with our community. We want CK voices to be heard. That’s why we’re inviting everyone to cast their vote on renaming the space,” says Jessica Myers.
Submissions are open now until September 30th, 2024 for members of the community to suggest a new name for the space. Each entry will be given the chance to win a trip for two on a private jet.
